Adventures in Babysitting. But like the real life kind, not the movie.

Most of today was spent in the company of my favourite preschooler, Anna, and my favourite toddler, Austin. We hung out while Mommy went to appointments.

After breakfast, it was a straight beeline to the basement, where the toys are carefully strewn across the carpet, and little dreams are born. (I feel like that statement should be included in the house description.)  And the piece de resistance- a slide in the middle of the room. Anna then announced that we were going to play Princess, and I was going to be the prince.

Anna: "And this is our baby."
Chantelle: "What's our baby's name?"
A: "Cinderella. Actually, let's name her Baby Belle!"
C: "Like the cheese?"
A: "Huh?"
C: "Never mind."

At this point, Austin's little head perked up. "CHEEEEESE?!?"
Nope. Sorry buddy.

A: "Um, pretend you were in sleeping, okay?"
C: "DONE"
A: "You're supposed to wake up now! Didn't you hear the rooster?"
C: "Uh, sorry."
A: "Prince?"
C: "Yes?"
A: "Go make the food. That's what the boys do."

Our future rests in good hands. I crawled over to the play kitchen and whipped up some awesome plastic pancakes and hot chocolate. Delish.

A: "Now that we've finished breakfast, let's have dessert!"
C: "Dessert? You want dessert with breakfast?"
A: "Yes. Make us some fruitcake."

I handed her a couple of plastic hamburger buns. She politely thanked me and fed it to Baby Belle.
"CHEEEEEEEEEEESE!!"
We turned around to find Aus sitting on the ground with a piece of plastic cheese in his mouth.

What a boy.
