Every year at Christmastime, I like to do a gingerbread project.
2008: Willy Wonka and his Chocolate Factory. Yep. I built a factory. It had a chocolate waterfall.
2009: two foot pirate ship. For Jack Sparrow. The ship was super frustrating to build. Never again.
2010: Christmas Gone Wrong. Mom was lame and got one of those premade houses from the store, so we jazzed it up a built and put Godzilla on the roof, set the windows on fire with fruit roll-ups, and tied up Santa.
2011: Ninjabread men.
2012: We didn't have a gingerbread project last year because we spent Christmas at my grandparents' house. :(

And in 2013...
I think it turned out rather well.

I love getting swept up in the Christmas season! My house looks like Santa's Workshop exploded in it. Literally. I'm sorry, roommates! You guys are so patient with me and my creative messes...
I've been busy addressing Christmas cards and finishing up presents all week. (I try to hand-make most of mine.) Tomorrow is the Edwards family Christmas party, which I'm really looking forward to! I hope we sing Six White Boomers. My Grandpa Edwards is from Australia, and that song has always been a big Christmas tradition in our family.

Christmas Holiday Plans

Even though it's very late at night, I just wanted to post an update. I've been meaning to for awhile, but you know, work... school... finals... Speaking of which, I have a final tomorrow first thing in the morning. Tests are basically the worst. Why can't they test me on creativity or knowledge of Disney movies or decorating? I'd be ballin at those!
After tomorrow though I just have one more test! Then it's dashing through the snow to the Homeland for Christmas! I've been making a list of things I'm looking forward to doing at home all day.
-Making fun of Benton for once trying to eat the fake candy canes on a Christmas tree
-Snuggling up to watch Christmas movies err'y day
-Reading! I have a stack of things I've been meaning to read, but haven't yet had time. (Ex. The Help, Wicked, the book of Yeats poetry I got in Ireland...)
-Not worrying about what to make for dinner... since I won't be making it!
-Getting new jammies
-Having Mom harmonize to whatever Christmas song I happen to be singing
-Finding out what tv series my family is currently addicted to. Every Christmas for the past few years our family has randomly watched an entire tv series over the holidays. It never happens on purpose, they just get hooked on a show and you know how that goes. One year we watched all 8 seasons of Home Improvement by the time I went back to school. Last year it was Gilmore Girls.
-Star gazing. The skies are exceptionally clear in Melfort during the winter, and you can even see the Northern Lights pretty well!
-Hugging Clay
-Doing Sarah's hair even though she hates it
-De-stressing
I feel more relaxed just thinking about it. But now it's off to bed so that I can wake up in a few hours to do some last minute cramming!
