Who's on Your Team?
On Thursday, I had an appointment with a dietician.
The first thing she said to me was, "I'm not here to weigh you. That doesn't tell me anything about you anyway. It's only a very small piece of you. It doesn't tell me your talents. It doesn't tell me what a good friend you are or your likes or your achievements. So I really don't care about that. I'm here to help you make good choices and set goals. I want to help you get better so that you can sing and be a good friend and do all the things you want to do. And when we get everything balanced in your life, that's when you're gonna shine!"
Um, nicest lady EVER.
When the appointment was almost over, she paused in the middle of her train of thought, and looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Can I be on your team? To help you shine?". It caught me off guard, but I nodded my head, and she continued on the subject we were on before.
The idea of having my own "team" is intriguing to me. I've never thought of it like that before. And ever since then, I've been thinking over the question, "Who's on my team?". When I got home that Thursday night, I decided to make a list.
My doctors are a big part of my team. (Dr. Muscat, Dr. Smart, Patricia, and Diane) And my parents are definitely on my team. And so are my siblings. My relatives living close by are on my team. Sister Watson is on my team. My dear Baby and Zygote (Rachel and Shelby) are on my team. Summer and Elizabeth are on my team. Ben is on my team. Nicole is on my team. Katrina is on my team. And I know Heavenly Father is on my team...
And so my list went on. I included everyone I knew who cares about me, or who would help me if they knew I was going through a rough time. Soon, I had a page was full of names. My team now looked more like a small army, and for the first time in awhile, I didn't feel so alone.
Who's on your team? Sometimes when you feel like you can't fight anymore, it's a good question to ask yourself. I promise, there's always someone.
