Ode to a Birthday

by - 4:10 PM

Chantelle has a friend. Nicole is her name.
On April the fifteenth her birthday it came.
We woke up early to eat free pancakes of blue,
I took a picture of her, and she attempted one too.
She wore a pink crown that exclaimed rather brightly,
"Today's this gal's birthday, so please treat her rightly".
We walked to the school, and bought some sweatpants
And all over the campus we happily pranced
Stealing every school newspaper that we happened to see.
(There were in my backpack about 53.)
Then down the theatre the papers we took
And rolled them all up, despite the strange looks.

We arranged the paper rods into some large shapes,
And attached them all using pieces of tape.
 (Nicole danced around to "Chim-chim-cheree"
While pretending to sweep out a chimney.)
At last the fort was finished! It was awfully grand.
(Thanks Nicole's friend, for giving us a hand.)
The design was stunning, the architecture, flawless.
Although, perhaps, it was a bit lawless...

We sat in the fort. We sat there us two.
People walked by wishing they were just as coo'.
Later, other students came to admire it.
And some even ventured inside it to sit.
And when we were finished, (just for a laugh)
We left the fort up for the janitorial staff.
When evening came, we went to celebrate.
And cheesecake was found on everyone's plate.
The birthday girl demanded neon be worn
But I was not in the least bit forlorn.
I found a shirt that didn't cost lots
And covered that bad boy in bright polka dots.
I liked it muchly, however whack,
but decided to also paint the back.
This is a card that Nicole thought was a mask.
But it was just a cow. With holes. Don't ask.

I asked the waitress for a great big glass of H2O.
And this, upon me, she did bestow.
(It was funny, okay!)
All in all we had lots of splendiferous fun.
Happy Birthday Nicole! Hope it was a good one!
