Shelby
Tonight I had an itch to write, but no clue on what to write about. I was on facebook and I had the chance to talk to my three closest friends from highschool. I asked each of them in turn for ideas, but just ended up just chatting with them about life and things. And it inspired me! I shall profile one of my friends from highschool.
Shelby
Shelby was my first friend when I moved from the city to Melfort. We were in the same grade nine homeroom. At first I thought someone like her could never be my friend. Shelby is very charismatic, and is liked by pretty much everyone she meets. She was very outgoing and that helped pull me out of my shell. We were often thrown together for projects that first year, and that helped me get to know her better.

(Shelby is the one on the right. I'm in the middle. Leah's on the left.)
Although we are definitely VERY different people, we're both similar in that both of us are horribly stubborn. We've had fights. We've had periods of time where we didn't speak to each other. Most of the time, it was my fault. I was so jealous of her. Thankfully, we've always managed to work things out.
Shelby is one of my very best friends. She's one of the first people I want to talk to when I have news. In highschool, as we went through the years and became closer, we became partners in crime. (Usually in conjunction with Leah- but more on that tomorrow!) I mean, who else could I carve a watermelon with and make it into a jack-o-lantern in the middle of June? Who else would talk to me in trucker lingo for days at the expense of sounding like a total freak? Or make suggestive faces at me across the Choral room? Who else could I convince to make lost signs for a grilled cheese sandwich and post them around the school? I've made this girl breakfast in bed (sorry about the fork), we've seen Phantom of the Opera and gone on four band tours together. We've had bonfires, and played chubby bunny, and talked till almost four in the morning. Together we started the infamous Quotebook, and caused mischief and mayhem in Mr. Rogers class, not to mention the entire school. She's the only other person who knows the movie Hercules as well as I do, and the only person I would entrust to help me with extreme gingerbread decorating just to win a contest. I've travelled across an ocean with this girl, and explored new countries with her.

I can't even express how much I love and admire Shelby. She can read me like a book. Granted, it's not that hard, but I was always so thankful that when I said I was fine she would say, "No you're not. What's wrong?". Shelby is quirky, and loud, and spunky. She's got a good head on her, and she knows what's right and wrong to her. She's not afraid to work hard or say what she feels and I love that she can face the world so confidently. Shelby is beautiful. Even though she'll deny it and argue you until you're blue in the face, she is. Inside AND out. I'm so glad that we've remained close even after I moved so far away from home. I would go insane without her and I'm so grateful that I can call her my friend.
