Frazzles & Co: Behind the name

by - 10:01 PM

Today, I shall enlighten the world (sort of), by giving an explanation as to the name of this blog.
Let's begin with "Frazzles"

Frazzles. It has a nice ring to it, no? Well IIIIIII think so. Frazzles happens to be one of my nicknames. Who thinks of a nickname like this you ask? Allow me to share the story.
Once upon a time, Chantelle (me) went to a church sponsored program affectionately known as "Trek". This program gives teenagers the opportunity to reenact the journey of the early Mormon pioneers to Utah. Basically, they strip you down of all modern conveniences, ask you to don era-appropriate clothing (hello bloomers), and you push/pull wooden handcarts and tent in the middle of no where. It may sound awful, but surprisingly most of the youth really enjoy it. ANYWAYS.... Everyone is put into "families" and at the head of each family is a "Ma" and a "Pa". I was one of the lucky ones. My Pa insisted on us calling him Big Poppa and his wife Momma Bear. Our family then decided that we should all have nicknames and then we would be like totally the most gangst pioneers in the whole trek! So Poppa Bear began to christen each of his "sons" with nicknames. I, having always been prone to jealousy, asked him why none of the girls had nicknames. Thus, each of the girls were given nicknames too, and I was dubbed forevermore as the one-and-only....

Frazzles.

Don't like that explanation of Frazzles? Well, let me just consult my good, albeit sometimes sketchy, friends at http://urbandictionary.com
Frazzles: Bacon flavoured crisps popular in the UK. Formerly owned by Smith's, now owned by Walkers. They have a distinctive brown/pink packet with yellow writing on it.
Urm. yeah....
This blog shall have "Frazzles" in the title because it is mine. And Frazzles is a cool word. And I like to think that I too am cool. The end.
Next, we shall move on to "&".
For those of you who do not know, the "&" sign is called an ampersand. This, like Frazzles, is an awesome sounding word. Also awesome, to linguists such as myself, is its history. The ampersand is derived from the Latin word et, which means, appropriately, and. One of the earliest examples of the ampersand was found on a piece of papyrus from 45 A.D. It also has specific uses in different languages. Dude, you gotta wiki this...
Bottom line? The ampersand is the shiz.
But not as much as me.
So it comes after Frazzles. Ha.
Last, we must discuss "Co."
Obviously, "Co." is short for "Company". Why is this included in the blog name? From what I understand, a blog is basically a log for me to record my shenanigans. And most of my shenanigans involve either the Fam Jam, or my highly extensive set of strange friends. I am told that company is often used to describe people of these types in the English language, so i threw it in for good measure.
The end.
