A Good Day

Yesterday I had one of those days that remind you why life is good. I didn't do anything fancy like win a million dollars, or backpack across Europe, but it was a nearly perfect day.
I woke up, showered, and put on the outfit I had picked the night before. After examining it in the mirror, I decided I didn't like it anymore, but rather than telling myself how awful it looked and that nothing looked good on me, I changed and that was that! This is groundbreaking stuff people!
I had a really good session with my counsellor in the afternoon. The minute I walked in she noted that I seemed perkier for some reason, but she couldn't pin why. And she even noticed my haircut even though she hasn't seen me in weeks! We talked about my family. We talked about school and where I'm living. We talked about how I'm doing. Then she randomly asked, "What do you like about yourself?". This is not a question that has not been posed to me before, however I've never been able to answer it. Until yesterday. Also, she helped me possibly find a job for the fall which is awesome! And then the nice receptionist gave me this random little strawberry candy. And I love me some strawberries.
Then I wrote my last final of summer session. It feels SO good to know that I'm DONE school for summer. 100% DONE. It also was pretty nice to find out I got an A- in my health class. No big deal.
Later, Ben and Lizzy picked me up and we went to Ben's house to hang out. It was SUPER hot outside. (over 30 degrees yo!) Lizzy collapsed upon arrival.
Then we made Ultimate Nachos. Ben is not a fan of chunky salsa. But he ate it like a big boy! Good job bestie!
We watched a movie, and then were invited to go hang out with the family down the street. So we did. The older kids played Bump in the driveway, but I opted to colour with chalk with their little sister.
I like making friends with little kids. :) This is our joint drawing! It's a stickman from hangman. We each took turns drawing a little part in a different colour until we had a picture.

Then we, uh... touched up Ben's TOMS. With chalk.
(Toms twinners)
Then we walked across the street to the park and set up a volleyball net to play. It has been YEARS since I've played volleyball, and it definitely showed haha. Good thing we weren't playing with rules. Also, I finally got to watch my sunset. :)
We played soccer until it was dark, and went for a slurpee run, and then went back to Ben's house where we played Donkey Kong Racing on the N64 (Legit enough for you?) and THEN....I learned how to play Halo. And I LIKED it.
The stars were out when I went home, and although they pale in comparison to my view back home, it was nice to see them. Cross star-gazing off the summer list.
June was a really hard month for me. I've been dealing with a lot of personal things, and growing and changing and just trying to figure out who I am. I have been really, really sad and lonely. I could have happy moments, yes, but they were always very short-lived. I couldn't shake this sadness that hung over me. Now, for the first time in awhile, I'm at peace. It feels good.
