2. Obtain a colourful paper, photo, etc. I got this out of a children's atlas. Yep, I ripped up a book. But in my defense it was for the greater good of creativity! This sort of vandalism (Chantalism?) is fine. Use the clear case to decide what you want the back to look like.

3. Inside my case came this little cardboard cutout of an iPhone. I used this to trace the shape, but if you don't have that you could just use the case.

4. Cut out the traced template

 5.Trim it so it fits snugly inside.

 7. Stick the paper back in and put the phone in on top.

 Voila! I'll never need to buy another phone case again!

 Isn't he pretty! He's orange and was super feisty when I picked him up at the pet store. Then I realized... HE'S A GINGER!

I named him Weasley.

And boy, was this week's activity a doozy. :)

Halle-freaking-lujah. 

Last year about this time, I devised a list of fun things that I could do during the summer, infamously known as the Summer Fun List of 2011. Awhile ago, a couple of my roommates, friends, and I devised this year's list. It's bigger and better and way radder than I could have concocted had I written it alone.

Nope. No "special hugs" for this girl.

Common sense and underpants. 100% effective.

HA. Never!

Are there any methods that you have heard about and would like to try?

My dad did once threaten to weld me an iron girdle of chastity....

My parents should be so proud of me.

But then I started to get sleepy. Very sleepy. And I started to weave over the middle line on the road every so often. And I started imagining that the guardrails on the shoulder were giant seagulls. I knew that if I had to, I could pull over somewhere and just sleep in the car, but I really wanted to get as far as I could. Which meant that I needed to stay awake. So I had to come up with some creative strategies.

1. Caffeine and sugar. A few weeks ago, my roommates discovered I had never tried Dr. Pepper, and consequently made me try it. You guys. YOU GUYYYYYS. All it took was 2 sips and I was wired for the rest of the night. Remembering this, I had my parents pick me up two litres of the stuff and a lot of chocolate before I left the city. This helped a little, but my eyelids were still pretty droopy.

2. The Mismatched Song Game. In the car I had a number of mix CDs, so I popped one in and made up a game. I would choose a style to sing in, and then the next song that came on, no matter what it was, I had to sing along in that style. Ideally, my weary brain supposed, this would require such enormous amounts of concentration that I would stay awake. I decided to sing the next song operatically. The next song was a rap song. I quit playing my game after that.

3. Roadkill Count. By this point I was getting desperate. Remembering how my brothers and I would compete to spot the most dead animals during roadtrips when we were younger, I forced myself to remain alert enough to count carcasses. One fox, one skunk, one Tim Hortons cup, and one other thing. I don't really know what it was.

4. Not-Roadkill Count. Not enough animals were dead on this trip for the Roadkill game to keep me awake for long. How unthoughtful of them! This time I counted animals that were still alive. One rabbit, two mice, and a whole lot of Bambis that seemed to pop out of nowhere.

Although they would work for a bit, none of these ideas were keeping my eyes open very long. Rascal Flatts may have wanted to ride the highway all night long, but all I wanted to do was go to bed. I just needed to stay awake to drive a little further. Desperate times called for desperate measures. I pulled over and employed strategy #5.

5. Beyonce. I pulled over at a darkened gas station in this random little town. I turned the music up ridiculously loud. I got out of the car. And then I did the entire Single Ladies dance. Booty-shaking, hip-popping, and all.

 Benton absolutely LOVED shovelling the 16+ inches of snow!

 Almost as much as he loves putting ties on the cat. 

 Sarah just loves to smile. Smiling's her favourite. (NAME THAT MOVIE.)

 Clayton loves to ruin pictures.

And Logan loves to leave the country when I come home to visit. Jerk. (I'm just kidding Bubs. Bring me someone something nice back from Spain!)
