So I Met Bill Nye...
Yes. THAT Bill Nye. Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Elizabeth came with me! We were super excited! Before Bill Nye spoke, they had a group called the Chemistry Guys come out and do experiments for us.
I actually really enjoyed them! Mainly because they blew things up and set things on fire.
I'm a pyro. Get over it.
Then came the man of the hour! He got a standing ovation (3 actually...), and he actually whipped out his phone and took pictures of the crowd. I don't blame him, because it was kind of impressive.
Topics covered? His family's involvement with World War 2, space, global warming, and sundials. Apparently he's obsessed with them.
Afterwards, Elizabeth and I went to go get books signed. And this is what we learned:
Bill Nye the Science Guy is not a very nice person.
First of all, during the question and answer session, this little girl asked if she could give him a hug, and he said, "Well if you come to the book signing afterwards, MAYBE I'll shake your hand." He made comments that were kind of snarky when a class of little kids left early during his lecture. And then when he was at the signing, the people got him a coke, but he wouldn't drink it from the can. So they got him a U of L mug, and he wanted to know if it was clean or not. They explained that it was new, but he still insisted they wash it out first.
SO WAS I.
And then to top it all off, Bill Nye the Science Guy gave me the middle finger. (See above photo)
